How do I install a distribution on Unix?

  1. Download the appropriate file for your operating system.

  2. Run the binary using the "sh" command like this:
    sh roxen-6.1.xxx-....sh
    Please note:

    • The installation script needs to write a few temporary files in the current working directory when invoked (they are removed automatically).

    • The installation script will not write any files outside the paths you specify except for the temporary files in the current working directory.

How do I install a distribution on Windows?

  1. Download the appropriate file for Windows.

  2. You may either:
    a) select "Run this program from its current location" and click "Yes" in the Security Warning dialog, or

    b) select "Save this program to disk" and then run the installation program manually.
  3. Follow further instructions given by the installation program.

 

Note regarding installation on Microsoft Windows Vista / Windows 7

The Roxen WebServer installer will fail on Windows Vista / Windows 7 unless the following steps are taken first:

  1. Log in as administrator.
  2. Go to Control Panel.
  3. Click on User Accounts to bring up a new list of choices.
  4. Click on User Accounts in this new view.
  5. Click Turn User Account Control on or off.
  6. Uncheck the checkbox Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer and save the changes.

How do I install a distribution on Mac OS X?

Users of Roxen distributions for Mac OS X 10.5 or later should follow the Unix instructions above.


How do I apply a patch?

  1. Download the appropriate patch file. It should be in the .rxp format.

  2. Go to Tasks > Maintenance > Patch management in the server's administration interface.

  3. Upload the .rxp file and then install it from the patch list in the wizard interface.
